My name is Michaël GUT and I am the caretaker of the Balme refuge since 5 years, like my father and my grandfather. The refuge is a family affair.
Nature and me is a great love story. Apart from the refuge keeper, I am a ski instructor and mountain guide.

We are located in the commune of CONTAMINES MONTJOIE (74170, in Haute-Savoie) in the heart of the nature reserve, a privileged and preserved place. What I want is for you to feel at home here by making this refuge a welcoming and warm place to spend good times in the company of nature enthusiasts.

Mountain refuge located at 1706m, at the foot of the Aiguille de la Pennaz (2668m), on the paths of the T.M.B, GR5, Tour du Beaufortain, Tour des Pays du Mont-Blanc.

The bivouac area near the refuge is freely accessible. We do not take reservations to be able to camp there.

ATTENTION: When booking, be careful not to confuse with the Col de Balme refuge (Vallorcine/Argentière) or the balme communal refuge in Beaufortain (73)

Cancellation Policy :

Cancellation made more than 31 days prior to arrival: 80% of the amount paid will be refunded. 20% of this amount will be retained to cover the cost of refunding and processing the cancellation.

Cancellation made less than 30 days before the arrival date: The sums paid will be kept in full by the host.

The cancellation request must be sent in writing to each of the hosts.

The host reserves the right to impose the means by which the refund will be made. The opening of a PayPal account or other request may be a condition for the refund.
